The Bytes Technology Group (BTG) is a multinational company listed in the Information

Technology section of the Johannesburg Stock exchange. In all the turnover of the Bytes

Technology Group is in excess of R3 Billion per annum, with a staff in excess of 3000

worldwide. The Bytes Technology Group is part of the large Altron Group, one of Africa’s

business success stories. Altron, and Altech exports a wide range of mainly electrical

products and related services, to over 50 countries.

The South African leg of the Bytes Technology Group consists of 9 independent

technology companies, with over 70 branch offices based in South Africa or neighboring

states. In addition a further 6 independent companies are based in Africa or Europe. The

Bytes Technology Group has ongoing operations or branches in Namibia, Botswana,

Mozambique, Mauritius, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya.

Currently Bytes Document Solutions (Xerox), National Data Systems (NCR), and Bytes

Communication Systems (Alcatel), three companies within the BTG group have all had

independent branch operations based in Windhoek, Walvis Bay, Tsumeb, Oshakati,

Katima Mulillo, Keetmanshoop and Swakopmund. The decision to bring together the

existing three operations under a single Bytes Technology Group in Namibia has

positive benefits to Namibia and the consumer.
